Privacy, in plain language
We read foggy privacy policies like everyone else. This one was written to be read — short, honest, and with no small print.

The essentials, in 20 seconds
- We do not sell your data. To anyone, ever.
- You do not need an account — we keep no reader profiles.
- Statistics only with your consent — saying “no” is one click.
- You can change your mind at any time, no reason needed.
Uplifting (uplifting.co-plex.com) is a good-news aggregator operated by co-plex.com. We are the controller of the small amount of data described on this page, under the UK GDPR.
Uplifting has no accounts, sign-ups or newsletters. Day to day, this is all of it:
- Preferences in your browser — your theme (light/dark) and chosen country are stored locally, on your device. They never leave it.
- Server technical logs — like any website, the server logs requests (IP address, page, time) for security and diagnostics, with short retention.
- The email you give us, if you do — for example, when suggesting a source. It is optional and used only to reply about that.
We use Google’s Consent Mode v2: in regions covered by data-protection law, everything to do with measurement and advertising starts off by default — it only turns on if you say yes in the cookie notice.
The notice has two buttons of equal weight: accept and decline. Declining hides no content and breaks nothing — the site works exactly the same.
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, what gets read: which stories, from which country, on which device. It serves one thing only — choosing tomorrow’s good news better.
We build no individual profiles, cross this data with nothing else, and share it with no one but Google itself as a processor (Google’s privacy policy).
Uplifting may show Google AdSense ads to pay the bills. When active, ads respect your consent choice: without a “yes”, Google can only show non-personalised ads, with no advertising cookies.
Ads are always labelled as such and never disguise themselves as news.
Under the UK GDPR, you can ask us at any time to:
- Access — know what data we hold about you (in most cases: none).
- Rectify or erase — correct or delete whatever there is.
- Withdraw consent — as easily as you gave it.
- Complain — to the ICO (ICO) or your country’s authority.
We answer every request, with no labyrinth of forms.
